The Sketchbook!
Okay, I’m going to just post some of what I have in my book. Feel free to comment. (I have more pics to load later…but those ones are from the family gathering in NY this weekend.)
You can view it in its entirety here: http://s44.photobucket.com/albums/f41/sharisvansciver/Sketchbook/?

David Mack’s Daredevil

Walt Simonson’s ORION.

Sam Kieth’s Zero Girl. I had to stalk him for three straight days to get it, but it was totally worth it!

Andy Lee’s Spiderman

Joe Linsner’s Dawn Angel

Ray Lago did this Angel watching over NY, about 30 days after the 9-11 attacks. We were all at a local artist NY show at the time. I think it’s absolutely haunting.

Vince Locke’s Spectre. He’s the “A History of Violence” guy. Cool!

Frank Quietly’s Jean Grey.

A Palmiotti Daredevil.

Jon Bogdanove’s Katie Power

Buzz did a Zatanna.

Ron Garney’s Jean Grey.

Terry Austin’s Popeye. Terry has an amazing collection of antique Popeye-bilia and those old tin toys!

June Brigman’s Jack Power

And Ethan-and-Moose bunny!

Cully’s AWESOME Batman!

Amanda Conner’s She-Hulk

I don’t know how or why, but luck was upon my sketchbook here! This is Superman, complete with easy-access undies, drawn by Margot Kidder — Original movie Lois Lane opposite Christophere Reeve! (Margot was sitting between Paris Hilton and Ethan when she drew this…can you just imagine the insanity my book has witnessed?)

A Dave DeVries Joker. Check out his project, www.mosterengine.com!

Phil Noto’s Zatanna. The incredible thing about this is that Phil had a broken arm or something at the time! (MegaCon 2005, I believe)

Harley Quinn by Allison Sohn. You may know her better as Allison Adam-Hughes’-Girlfriend.

Adam Hughes’ Zatanna!

Stelfreeze!

Louis Smalls Jr did a great Vampy!

James O’Barr’s Crow Bunny. He has a sign on his desk that said “he also draws bunnies and children,” and I had to ask! I ended up trading him an Ethan Van Sciver Crow piece for this!

James Jean did Little Red and the Wolf from Fables.

Howard Chaykin’s Guy Gardner

Bryan Hitch’s WW.

Steve McNiven did an inebriated Spidey for me. Wooooo!

Got this great Sal Buscema sketch after I showed him the light. (He was doing sketches with SHARPIES, and I gave him a bunch of Ethan’s Pigma Microns. Infinitely better art pens! He was very impressed!) Now who’s too old for comics, huh?????

George Perez WW. He ran out of paper and I went to the art store to get him a new sketch pad. Same show as Buscema. I think I was the “art-gopher” that weekend. Still, these two sketches alone made it more than worthwhile!

JIM LEE ZATANNA! *hyperventilating* I only had to bribe the nice man with a box of Kit Kats from Japan! Dude! LOOK at this thing! I am going to find the man who created the Kit Kat bar and shake his hand! OMG! She’s pulling a Wolverbunny out of her hat! *fainting with delight*

I tried to get a close-up here, but I don’t have a macro lens for my camera, so it didn’t come out well. But if you squint your eyes just right…

Stuart Sayger painted the inside back cover for me. Keep an eye on this guy, he’s totally effing brilliant!

Dude! I remember you telling me the story about that Jim Lee sketch at WWLA. I didn’t know it was that badass. That’s an amazing collection you’ve got. I would post my con-sketchbook, but it’s in Tucson and I’m currently in Seattle! That is some true awesomeness. I need to marry a comicbook artist so I can get the hook-ups too

WOW, totally impressed. Thanks for sharing Sharis! I hope to get a Jim Lee and Perez someday (those pencils are fantastic), along with a Van Sciver. In the meantime here’s my stash:

Incredibly cool sketch book.
Jim Lee did a pic for another friend of mine who used to manage a comic shop. She didn’t want to go out drinking with him and the rest of the shop staff so he refused to do the sketch unless she went with all of them. After getting her to do a shot of Tequila with him he did her sketch. Catwoman laying on a bar with three full shot glasses and a bottle of Tequila. I’m still envious.

I hate you intensely for having a james jean sketch.
Other favorites are the Noto Zatanna and the Cully Batman!
